"Will decorate Hina doll and Gogatsu do Why?"

46D06145-D764-487E-8004-BB52B4F936CF.jpe

The dolls of Gosekku have the meaning of amulets, such as protecting children and wishing for healthy growth. Therefore, one for each person is the basic form. If you still have your favorite parents' dolls, why don't you just decorate the hina dolls and armor helmets next to your new child's dolls? When siblings are born, they should be arranged one by one, but I think it would be better if the children underneath were made into dolls only or in cases.

"What do I order when I was?"

日程

Ideally, you should come to the store by April 10th for the Tango no Sekku. After that, both stores will start to sell out and the range of choices will be narrowed. Most of the festival dolls are handmade, so it will not be possible to deliver them in time for the festival.

Both shops are crowded on holidays such as Saturdays and Sundays. If you come to the store on weekdays when the store is relatively open, you may be able to see the goods slowly.

You may decide to come to the store with your family on holidays after making a preliminary inspection when the store is open and considering some points.

"Decide decorate location."

The decoration and size of the Gogatsu doll will differ depending on the space you decorate, so please decide where to decorate as much as possible before coming to the store.

Recently, an increasing number of customers are saying, "It's hard to find a place to decorate because of the room and furniture." The period for decorating festival dolls is one to one and a half months. If you cannot secure a place by all means, one idea is to prepare a simple stand for the period of decoration.

How to choose a Gogatsu doll ~ Check Point ~

Many of the parts of the armor helmet use hardware, so the value depends on the quality of the hardware.

Also, of course, the finish will improve if you work on the details. Good things can be displayed for a long time and you will never get tired of seeing them.

For Hina dolls, you have a preference for the color of your face and costume, but for Gogatsu dolls, the shape and color are fixed to some extent. I think it's difficult to distinguish between high-end products and popular products from the photos alone.

However, if you look at the actual product, you will notice that the finish will change completely depending on the materials used and how you handle it. In other words, because the color and shape are fixed to some extent, the quality of the process is easily reflected in the finished product. Good things are reasonably priced, but the quantity produced is limited.

A good Gogatsu doll is a traditional craft that can only be done by skilled craftsmen who have to go through each process by hand and take time. When choosing an item, we recommend that you listen carefully to the explanation of the armor helmet at the store before making a decision.

Below are some techniques for making armor helmets. Please refer to it when choosing an item.

"Processing of KOZANE"

小札

"Genuine gold foil stamped bill (Kozane)"

Armor and helmets are assembled by connecting boards called kozane with threads. The plaque is made of pure gold foil and processed so that it will not come off. Pure gold is the most stable substance among metals, so even if it is displayed for many years, its color does not change much and it is rather easy to handle. In the manufacturing process, gold leaf is applied by hand, which is time-consuming. This is the oldest technique used in decorative armor in Kyoto.

"Black bill"

It is a multi-layered black paint on a small bill.

This type of lacquer is coated with lacquer in multiple layers so that it will not come off even if it is displayed for many years. It does not have the luxury of genuine gold foil stamping, but the overall atmosphere is calm.

Many of the existing national treasure-class armor are black bills.

"Genuine gold-plated bill"

It is a small bill plated with real gold. Generally speaking, the real gold helmet often refers to this real gold plating. Since plating is applied on the small bill, the finish is even and uniform. This is the most common method of processing gold-colored bills.

"Washi bill"

It is a small bill that is often found in the armor of the Kanto region. It is a small bill made by stacking several small pieces of Japanese paper on top of each other and applying black paint on top of it. Although it is not flashy, it is a process that creates a unique atmosphere where the craftsmanship shines.

"Processing of the HACHI"

兜 鉢

"Awase Hachi (Matching bowl)"

In the case of this type of helmet, a "matching bowl" is generally used. This is a technique to make the head part of the helmet (hemispherical one) by stacking several iron plates, and the craftsmen assemble each one by hand, so you can see the beauty as a craft. ..

Most popular products are processed by casting, and they can be processed by pouring molten metal into the mold, so they are suitable for mass production.

"ODOSHI yarn"

兜 縅

"Pure silk thread"

It means using pure silk (natural silk) for the thread that connects the bills.

Unlike chemical fibers and cotton threads, pure silk threads have a unique tension and luster, and the overall finish is plump and elegant.

KARAHITSU

唐櫃

"Shyahari Karahitsu"

The box on which the armor helmet is placed (all the armor helmets fit in this box) is called Karahitsu.

A thin cloth called Shya is stretched on this abalone to give it strength. This technique is used in many decorative armor in Kyoto.

There are many points that cannot be understood by just looking at the tailoring of armor and helmets, so I think it is better to visit the store and listen to the explanation directly for details. If the store has a solid understanding of dolls, they will explain it to you. We recommend that you listen to the explanation as carefully as possible before purchasing.
